Shree Kundanikaben Kapadia was born on January 11, 1927, in Limdi, Gujarat, India, into an educated family. After completing her schooling in Vadodara, she pursued a degree in Arts (Political Science) at Bhavnagar, residing in a hostel there. An outstanding student with high moral values, she epitomized the adage - simple living and high thinking. She began her professional career as a writer in Mumbai, eventually rising to the editorship of renowned magazine - Navneet.
Kundanikaben had a profound appreciation for various arts, with a particular interest in music. She frequently attended 'Musical Evening' programs, beautifully composed bhajans by Makarandbhai, and guided new singers at Nandigram. Her dedication to music was evident in her immersive playing of the 'Dilruba.' She also enjoyed playing and encouraging others to play various brain-stimulating games, especially Scrabble. By nature, she was a dedicated pursuer of truth, parsimonious, hardworking, well-disciplined, utterly honest, and soft-spoken. She was well-known for her advocacy of racial and gender equality, with her most popular novel, 'Seven Steps in the Sky,' serving as a prime example.
